Prospects for using blockchain in urban transport

Vladimir Tregubov

Abstract

Blockchain technology has significant potential for effective use in transportation and logistics. Existing research shows that the widespread implementation of this technology and the development of standards for its use in transport can improve the quality of transport services and even form digital supply chains, implementing a reliable and efficient version of traditional supply chains with an effective mechanism to ensure their digital security. It is possible that in the future, the use of blockchain technology will be the industry standard and ensure the reliability and security of product delivery systems. In this article we summarized the key directions of blockchain technology use in the sphere of urban transport and described the peculiarities of its application in modern conditions. It also defined the directions of further theoretical research in this area and presented a conceptual vision of the mechanisms of shaping the incentives for cooperation in the framework of the intelligent transport system of the city based on the blockchain. The results of the development and implementation of several transport projects based on the use of blockchain technology in the logistics industry were used for the empirical analysis. In conclusion, we present the author's concept of the system for the balance of interests for the stable development of the transport system based on the blockchain. The key to the creation of this concept is the possibility of forming an information environment that will allow all participants to meet the needs of passengers, provide the necessary services and generate profit without excessive control from the regulator.
